Yellow Waters

There is a spot downstream of Gilroyd and Stainborough which is known locally as the Yellow Waters.  Do you know anything about it?

The name may have come from the stream at that point being contaminated with 'ochre water', in turn that may have come from mine workings - possibly at the Strafford Colliery or Rob Royd Colliery- would you know about these things?

The footpath that goes across the Yellow Waters appears to be very old - would you know anything that?
